Can 10k gold be fused to Sterling Silver, and How?

My engagement ring it 10K white gold and my jeweler custom made a nice Sterling Silver band to match it wonderfully. But he said he can't fuse them together. We know someone can do it somewhere, or at least tell us how! If you have any information on how this can be done, or for companies that will do it, It would be very much appreciated!
